Egypt excels in the Mineral Industry as stated in the January 02 issue in Industrial Minerals Magazine “Egypt is endowed with large reserves of high grade silica in the form of white sand and quartzite in the Sinai, Peninsula, the Eastern Desert and the Nile Valley.”
Natural silica sand:
Rich in silica oxide (SiO2) = 99.6 -99.8% with
low content of Iron Oxide (Fe2O3) 0.013- 0.018%
dry mineral – decrease energy consumption
Silica Sand is the main source of SiO2.
There are two types of this material:
The Glass Sand divided into
Float Glass with Fe2O3 (%0.08 - 0.1)
Tableware industries with Fe2O3 (%0.012 - 0.018)
The Ceramic Sand with percentage of Kaolin (Al2O3) %1 - 4
Uses : ceramics , glass, silicate industry , crystal industry, Chemical, Electrical, casting, paint and coating industries.
